Days is a perpetual calendar app for iPhone with rings that turn. Three rings behind a round window: the date, the month and the day of the week. A red diode lights today, and the year sits in a small window below.

Days is a perpetual calendar built as a mechanism. Three rings turn on one axle behind a round window: the dates outside, the months in the middle, the days of the week inside. At midnight the rings step on by themselves, so it always shows today.

Turn a ring by hand and the other two follow, so the three always agree on a date. SYNC brings them back to today. LIGHT switches the diodes under the rings on and off.

Today at a glance on the Home Screen and the Lock Screen, a date set by hand for a trip or a deadline, and a mechanism that is a pleasure to turn.

Rings that turn

Each ring runs on its own guide with its own motor: from the 25th to the 26th the date ring makes 1/31 of a turn, the weekday ring 1/7, and the month stands still. Flick one and it spins down with real friction and settles on a mark.

Under twelve o'clock a small red diode sits beneath each ring. The name above it glows, a little light leaks into the gaps, and LIGHT turns it all off at night.

Small, medium and large widgets show the dial, and the Lock Screen shows the date. They turn to today by themselves.

Questions

Does it change the date by itself?

Yes. At midnight the rings step on to the new day, at the end of a month the month ring turns, and the year window follows past December. SYNC brings everything to today at once.

Can I set another date?

Turn a ring by hand: the other two follow, so the three always agree on a date. It stays until midnight or until you press SYNC.

What does LIGHT do?

It switches the red diodes under the rings on and off. On, today's names glow red; off, they read in grey.

Is there a widget?

Yes: small, medium and large Home Screen widgets show the dial, and a Lock Screen widget shows the date. They turn to today by themselves.

Which iPhone do I need?

Any iPhone running iOS 18 or later.

Does Days exist as a physical device?

Not yet. Days is a concept made as a digital object: designed and engineered like a real perpetual calendar, but it exists only on your iPhone. If you make hardware and would like to produce it in commercial quantities, we are open to collaboration: hello@objectism.app.
